Lower School Resource / Middle School Phys Ed.

Alexis Burkett serves Banner Christian School as both a Lower School Resource Teacher and Middle School Physical Education Teacher, where she combines her love for learning with her passion for helping students thrive. In her dual role, she provides one-on-one academic support for younger students while also leading fun and challenging physical education activities for middle schoolers.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Psychology and has always been fascinated by the way words, stories, and human behavior shape our understanding of the world. Alongside her academic training, Alexis spent four years teaching Zumba—a fitness program that blends dance and exercise—which fueled her appreciation for staying active. She loves how Zumba can make exercise feel joyful, combining music, movement, and community to build both physical health and emotional well-being. This enthusiasm carries into her work with students, where she encourages them to find active lifestyles they truly enjoy.

As a graduate of Banner Christian, Alexis feels especially blessed to return to the school that shaped her spiritually, academically, and personally. She considers it an incredible opportunity to give back to a community that nurtures students in their faith, prepares them for the future, and inspires them to pursue excellence in all areas of life. Outside of the classroom, Alexis enjoys hiking, reading, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her cat, Weasel.
