Prior to applying to Banner Christian School, you should read the handbook to determine if Banner is a proper fit for your child.

The birth certificate must accompany the application at the time of submission.

If applicable, include a copy of the previous year final report card and current year report card

 

Students applying for 1st through 12th grade admission must provide current

standardized testing results by nationally recognized organizations. If the student cannot provide current testing, the admissions office will schedule a date for your child to be tested.

Complete and sign the Transcript Request Form. This form can be either taken by the parent to the current school or mailed by Banner if signed and returned by a parent.

Teacher Recommendation Form should be completed by student's current teacher.  Form must be mailed or faxed back to Banner Christian School by the current teacher or school.

The Pastor Reference Form must be signed by the parent or guardian, dated and sent to any full-time minister on staff at your church. The form must be mailed or faxed back to BCS by the minister.

 The following actions require the parent’s attendance and you will receive a phone call from the admissions office to schedule them

9. Final Interview

After completion of these requirements, an interview will be scheduled with the appropriate principal (Elementary, Middle or High). If you have multiple children applying, the interview will be scheduled with the oldest applicant’s principal. Each applicant must be present at the final interview.

Banner Bridge Fee:  $25 per family

Tuition Assistance

 

Banner Christian School established a Tuition Assistance Fund to assist qualifying families who have sacrificed to make Christian education a priority in their family. The fund is financed through contributions from interested individuals, school fund-raisers, the school’s general operating fund, and funding through the Virginia Education Improvement Scholarship. The Tuition Assistance Fund is applicable only to tuition costs and is not extended to other charges such as registration fees. A new application must be submitted each year for tuition assistance. This application is considered confidential and will be reviewed only by those serving on the Tuition Assistance Committee. In order for us to consider your application for tuition assistance, all of the requirements must be met by the deadline dates to give FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment and the Tuition Assistance Committee adequate time to process the applications and allocate any available funds.

Banner is excited to see the growing popularity of this fund since its inception two years ago.  Unfortunately, the demand is greater than the supply as we are limited with the amount of dollars available in the fund.  Therefore, we have decided to institute several deadline dates in which we will review completed application and award tuition assistance.  Please note, in order to be considered for tuition assistance, your FACTS application must be completed in its entirety.  Included in the application process is the submission of your 2016 tax returns.  The dates are as follows:

Each of the above dates is contingent on funds still being available.  Once the funds have been exhausted, the assistance awards will be concluded.  Therefore, if you desire to apply for tuition assistance, please submit your completed application as soon as possible.  You can access the application at https://factsmgt.com/parent-resources/grant-and-aid/.   If you have any questions regarding the application, you can contact FACTS directly at 1-866-441-4637.  Any other questions can be directed to Banner’s finance director, Mr. Stephen Wolf at 804-276-5200.

 

 

 

Late Fees

 

All amounts 15 days past due (refer to payment schedule) are subject to a service charge of $50. Late charges are calculated and billed on the last day of the month. When any portion of any account becomes greater than forty-five (45) days in arrears, Banner Christian School may, in its sole discretion, deny class attendance and participation in other school activities, withhold academic reports and transcripts, and revoke the enrollment contract. Any check returned is subject to a $50 processing charge.

 Monthly (August 1 – May 1)

 3 Payments (August 1, November 1, February 1)

 1 Payment (paid in full by July 1st) 2% discount

 

• Banner uses FACTs to process payments.  All families must enroll in FACTs by June 6th, 2016 or within 1 week of being accepted after June 6th.

• Student records, report cards, and transcripts will be held if financial account is not in good standing.

• If an account is not paid within 60 days, the student may be suspended.

• Should a change during the year become necessary, tuition will be paid throughout the entire semester in which the student withdraws.

 

 

International Students

Banner now has certification through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). This means that we accept international students with student visas. Click here to visit the SEVIS website.

International Students (2017-2018)

 

K5-5th grade:     $14,525

6th-8th grade:    $15,312.50

9th-12th grade:   $15,706.25

 

Textbooks are included in tuition costs.

 

Financial Aid

Banner Christian School is able to provide financial aid by receiving gifts from outside sources that specifically give to our scholarship program.  These gifts make up about 1.5% of our annual operating budget.  Since these resources are so limited and we would like to help as many families as possible, the following guidelines have been established for families who want to apply for financial aid.

 

1.  Only students accepted for enrollment will be considered for financial aid.

2.  Financial aid is granted for tuition only and is not applicable to fees.

3.  Families who have been with us the longest will be given first preference.

4.  Unless there are circumstances beyond a family's control, the amount of aid will be decreased from year to year.

5.  Families who have an outstanding balance from a prior year will not be granted financial aid.

6.  Once financial aid is granted, families must be current with their monthly payments to continue receiving that aid.

 

We feel if you are unable to budget within the guidelines listed above, you may need to consider whether the financial burden of sending your children to BCS is best for your family.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS:

 

FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment will be conducting the financial need analysis for the 2016-2017 school year.

 

Go to www.factstuitionaid.com to complete an online application through FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment.

 

• Select “Applicant Sign-in” and create your account with a user name and password.

• Select “Create an Account”

• Enter the zip code 23236 and then choose Banner Christian School from the dropdown list.

• A processing fee of $30.00 is required by FACTS at the time of application.

• If you have questions regarding the online application process, please contact FACTS directly at 1.800.390.4690.

• Once your online application is completed, the following information will need to be sent to FACTS as soon as available to complete the application process:

• Copies of your previous year's Federal tax forms including all supporting tax schedules

• Copies of your previous year's W-2 forms for both you and your spouse

• Copies of supporting documentation for Social Security Income and Child Support

• Submit a letter explaining your reasons for requesting financial aid. Also indicate the dollar amount you feel your family can pay monthly for the 2016-2017 school year.
